Position Highlights

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator contributes to a team of professional staff that provides the day-to-day administrative and program oversight for a Think Tank’s accredited SI program. Under the direction of the SI Manager, the SI Coordinator helps lead, coordinate, and supervise 50-60 student workers who provide academic support to thousands of university students. The coordinator contributes to all facets of the team’s efforts in the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and supervision of student SI Leaders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the leadership and coordination of all Supplemental Instruction services to ensure effective and engaging student academic support.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of student SI Leaders.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to plan and deliver ongoing SI Leader training, professional development, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain student worker scheduling and assignments in alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Assist in approving payroll and resolving related discrepancies.
  • Assist in facilitating day-to-day SI operations, including securing materials, coordinating session logistics, and ensuring instructional content aligns with course objectives.
  • Serve as a technical and methods expert for SI Leader development and practices.
  • Maintain accurate SI program records, including leader information, student attendance, and performance data within department databases.
  • Contribute to assessment efforts by collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and implementing strategies to enhance service quality and learning outcomes.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with participating faculty, campus partners (e.g., the SALT Center, CATS Academics), and Think Tank staff to promote program awareness and alignment.
  • Provide guidance and problem solving support for SI Leaders, interpreting departmental policies and procedures in consultation with the SI Manager.
  • Communicate regularly with the SI Manager regarding program progress, emerging needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, events, and committees that support the goals of Think Tank and the broader Student Success mission.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of leadership, management, and supervision principles and practices.

Knowledge of SI principles, effective learning practices, and program administration.

Knowledge of FERPA regulations and ethical best practices for working with student employees.

Knowledge of University of Arizona student employment procedures and policies.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, including strong presentation, public speaking, and writing abilities.

Ability to work effectively with the campus community.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated openness to innovation and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in Education, Math Education, Science Education, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in student success, learning center, or equivalent academic support environments.
  • Experience supporting students in STEM disciplines.
