Job Summary and Qualifications

Supports hospital by being responsible for early detection activities of community- acquired illnesses of Public Health importance including those related to bioterrorism, insuring compliance with the guidelines and accreditation standards of the, and facilitating the process of reducing risks of endemic & epidemic infections in the community. This employee is a part of a network of public health epidemiologists working in the leading hospitals of North Carolina.

• Plans, develops, and implements the surveillance program for patients with community acquired infectious disease of public health importance by acting in by accordance with the case definition and mechanism for reporting by the NC General Communicable Disease Central Branch.
• Supports department by facilitating compliance with regulatory infection control requirements and adopted guidelines
• Works to prevent spread of communicable diseases by facilitating or directs implementation of infection control measures to prevent spread of communicable diseases.
• Provides updated infection control education to patients.
• Fulfills assigned role by attending hospital committee(s).

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Must be a graduate of a clinical training program (e.g., nursing, medical technology) or related allied health field with current licensure in North Carolina.

Preferred Experience: A minimum of two years of Infection Control nursing, Medical technology, or Public Health experience recommended.
