Job Title : Music Therapist

Reports To : Principal and Music Therapist Lead

Supervises : NA

Status : Part-Time, Non-Exempt (2 days a week)

Position Summary:

● Collaborate with the full time Music Therapist in implementing group music therapy classes and instructional programs, assessing student performance and other tasks as needed by the therapist. The successful candidate must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of music therapy methods and interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Provide high quality therapeutic services and music therapy interventions in group settings for students.

● Adapt music therapy resources, materials and music therapy interventions specific to the needs of the client

● or group participants.

● Collaborate with Spero Academy's Music Therapists on a variety of projects, administrative tasks, and the fall and spring student concerts.

● Create a positive learning environment through the establishment of good rapport with students, and staff, and encouraging open discussion.

● Attend all mandatory staff training.

● Assist with auxiliary duties (ex: arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess)

● Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

● Bachelors, MT-BC preferred or scheduled

● Completion of a music therapy internship

● Experience working with children preferred

● Ability to work in diverse settings

● Flexibility, comfortable performing in front of a group, strong piano and/or guitar skills, ability to adapt music resources and materials

● Excellent communication and organization skills

● Ability to work in a self-directed manner, positive attitude and demeanor

● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, transport materials between classrooms, and move efficiently to provide timely support to students
