Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) is the leading coalition of outdoor recreation trade associations that collectively represent the $1.3 trillion outdoor recreation economy. ORR members include over 50 national associations, businesses, state offices of outdoor recreation, and universities that represent the full spectrum of outdoor recreation activities. ORR is a 501c3 and has an affiliated 501c6, Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Association, with staff dedicated to connecting all Americans to the benefits of outdoor recreation. ORR staff interacts with top leaders in business, philanthropy, education, and government, with an emphasis on hard work paired with time spent outdoors and flexibility to ensure that balance. This role is a cross-functional position focusing on government relations and supporting the administration of ORR’s strategic priorities, including operations, communications, policy, programs, and events. The Manager coordinates ORR members and other industry stakeholders to educate Congress, federal agencies, state governments, and more on policies that will improve recreation experiences and enhance the quality of life of outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The Manager has significant administrative responsibilities and supports internal and external communications, including member tracking and engagement, digital presence, and strategic messaging, coordinating events and meetings like ORR Board Meetings, National Forums, and more. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Vice President of Programs.

This person will be a self-starter with a minimum of three years of full-time, professional experience in government relations, public affairs, communications, or a related field—ideally within a trade association, advocacy organization, private or public sector environment.
They will need exceptional organizational, writing, and editing skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate brings Hill or agency experience, comfort engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and demonstrated ability to translate policy into compelling communications. They will excel at working alone and on teams and performing under tight deadlines and bring experience with project management and the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with ORR members, partners and policymakers. Experience with coalition or membership organizations is a plus. They must be creative, curious, and hard-working with a genuine passion for improving Americans’ quality of life through outdoor recreation.
ORR offers a competitive salary; benefits including retirement match, medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, paid family leave, remote work, and unlimited vacation. The ORR office is in an exciting and energizing co-working location in downtown D.C. with a team member also located in Wyoming. Salary range for this position is $80-100k depending on experience and location. Bonus options available and dependent upon meeting goals.
