Homeland Talent Solutions has partnered with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organization to hire a CMO Manufacturing Director . The company is nationally recognized for contract manufacturing of sterile injectable vials and lyophilized products, with a global leadership presence in allergenic extracts for treating allergies and asthma. The CMO Manufacturing Director will lead site-level manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing resources, and developing a high-performing workforce. The CMO Manufacturing Director will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to consistently achieve production goals and maintain the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all site manufacturing activities, ensuring alignment with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives
  • Oversee plant operations and resource allocation, serving as the primary decision-maker for manufacturing priorities and escalation management
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and internal quality standards across all manufacturing processes
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Technical Services to resolve deviations, mitigate risks, and maintain audit readiness
  • Lead workforce strategy initiatives, including cross-training programs and resource leveling to improve flexibility and optimize labor utilization
  • Collaborate with HR and Training to maintain accurate skill matrices aligned with production needs
  • Monitor and drive performance metrics such as OEE, yield, cycle time, labor efficiency, and scrap rates to identify improvement opportunities
  • Direct continuous improvement efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies (A3, Kaizen, root cause analysis)
  • Sustain operational excellence initiatives including 5S, SMED, TPM, and Value Stream Mapping to enhance throughput and reduce waste
  • Develop and mentor leadership teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies
  • Manage financial performance in partnership with Finance, including labor costs, material usage, and budget adherence
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining compliance and high-quality standards
  • Collaborate across functions such as Supply Chain, HR, Engineering, and PMO to align on production plans and strategic initiatives
  • Represent Manufacturing in leadership discussions, contributing to site strategy and long-term planning

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Life Sciences required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations within FDA-regulated environments required
  • Proven leadership experience managing plant-level teams and driving operational improvements required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments required
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and business needs required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Expertise in production planning required
  • Strong background in continuous improvement methodologies required
  • Aseptic filling experience preferred
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods required
  • Comfort working in aseptic environments and exposure to allergens required

Benefits

This role offers an annual compensation range of $170,100 – $272,200 based on experience, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises for high-performing, long-tenured employees.
